Friendswood High School in nationwide Vans competition

FRIENDSWOOD (KTRK) -- Friendswood High School entered an arts competition sponsored by Vans this past January.

After entering the nationwide contest they received blank shoes from Vans in February and were asked to design or create a new shoe.

That's when the students at FHS designed the Guitar Shoe. The shoe is an actual working guitar that plays in the amp.

They were notified this week that they're in the top 50 in the shoe design contest and have a chance to win $50,000 for the Friendswood HS art program.
