Skeeters stadium lights up for holidays
The Sugar Land Skeeters are giving families a new way to get into the Christmas spirit

SUGAR LAND, TX (KTRK) -- Constellation Field is usually known at the home of the Sugar Land Skeeters, at least during baseball season. But this holiday season, it's Santa's homebase. The baseball stadium was transformed into a winter wonderland for Sugar Land Holiday Lights.

"We started setting up these lights a month before our opening night and tweaking them ever since," says Samantha Ferreira with the Sugar Land Skeeters.

It's been diligence and dedication to build the holiday spectacular made up of two million Christmas lights. And the hard work didn't go unnoticed.

"The best is opening the presents and seeing all the lights," says one little girl.

Even adults like Brandie Townsend enjoyed it.

"It's awesome. It's amazing. I've never seen so many lights in one place in a long time," she said.

The Sugar Land Holiday Lights includes nine different themes, explains Ferreira.

"We have our enchanted forest area. We have Santa's workshop. My favorite is our tunnel of lights. you really have to see it. It's exactly what it is. We have our Memorial Hermann Children's workshop where they can do crafts. We've got ornaments, coloring sheets. They can write letters to Santa. Santa is here every night up until Christmas Eve," Ferreira said.

The best part, according to one dad: "It's pretty affordable and great for the whole family to come out."

Tickets cost $9 for children and $13 for adults. Children under three are free. And this Saturday and Sunday, Sugar Land Holiday Lights partnered with Toys for Tots. If you bring a toy for a child in need, you get $5 off your ticket purchase.

Sugar Land Holiday Lights are open through January 4. Sunday through Wednesday, their hours are 6pm to 9pm. Thursday to Saturday, you can enjoy the lights until 10pm.
