Pearland police officers rescue ducklings stuck in storm drain.

PEARLAND, Texas (KTRK) -- Police in Pearland not only keep their human residents safe, they also take care of their animal neighbors.

Last week, a couple of officers happened upon a group of ducklings stuck in a storm drain at the 2500 block of Business Center.

Pearland Police Sgt. Adam Carroll said he saw a mother duck pacing near the drain, worried about her 12 ducklings.

"Little mama is out there going crazy," one of the officers is heard saying in the video posted on Facebook.

The officer thought it was strange that a duck would be out on the street away from water by herself.

Carroll said he heard chirping, looked over and saw the little ones in the drain.

He and officer Matthew Webb eventually reunited the babies with mom.
