Houston philanthropist Mimi Dompier dies

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston philanthropist Mimi Dompier has passed away today, according to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Dompier has been a longtime donor to the rodeo and has purchased several of the Grand Champion student art work pieces, steer and wines.

ABC13 last spoke to her at this year's art auction on March 19.

All proceeds from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo purchases go towards scholarships for local students, so Dompier's generosity has helped send thousands of Houston students to college.

She is survived by her husband, Tom.
