CONROE, TX -- A threat of rain, cloudy skies and healthy gusts of wind couldn't knock the hat off of the 50th annual Go Texan Parade that marched through downtown Conroe Saturday.
Hundreds of Montgomery County residents and dignitaries from all of the surrounding areas traveled through the same streets when the first event was celebrated in 1966.
"With the amount of entries we had, it was amazing at how the team pulled it all together right," Parade Chairman Will Evans said. "It seemed like the crowd enjoyed it and there were a lot of kids involved. Every time we went through, people were all clapping and having a great time. To me, that's what it's all about."
