THE WOODLANDS, TX (KTRK) -- Getting to the salon can get pricey, if you like to go often. But the Aveda Institute offers the feel of a high-end salon without the big price tag.

The location in The Woodlands is a place where future stylists are training, all while being guided by cosmetology educators. From highlights to facials, it's a one-stop shop for all your salon needs.

"You can expect any type of color service, hair cutting, we have a spa that offers facials and waxing. We also do manicures and pedicures," said Aveda Institute educator Andrea Calderon.

Consumers can score a bargain while being pampered with Aveda products.

"Aveda products is a luxury hair line. Almost every single product is 98 percent naturally derived from plants and flower essence. The aromas are amazing, everything is natural. Everything put on your skin, in your hair, is going to be good for your body and for your hair," Calderon said.

The school has a motto of "luxury for less," and it lives up to it! If you stop by, expect to pay 50 percent less than retail salon prices.

"Yes, it's a budget beauty salon but you're still getting that luxurious service. This is a school full of highly trained talented students as well as amazing instructors that are there to provide and support you whenever you need help," said Aveda Institute student Rachel Eggie.

Each customer receives additional complimentary add-ons that would ordinarily be an added expense.

"You're offered our calming tea that we have at Aveda that is absolutely delicious. And then we start you off with a shoulder massage, scalp massage, neck massage," said Eggie.

For those fearful of getting groomed by a student, the school says not to worry. The salon educators check in multiple times throughout the appointment.

"I am guiding the student. It's a learning process for the student, but all the educators are guiding the students throughout the entire process," Calderon said.

"Aveda is one of those luxury brands that the institute offers that you get that luxury experience, but at a discounted price," said Aveda Institute regular Hadley Kurtz. "It makes day to day living a little easier."

The prices vary slightly during peak hours throughout the weak, so go during off hours to get the best rates.
