CROSBY, TX (KTRK) -- As Kristen Houston of Crosby spoke over the phone about her son's condition, in the background six-year-old Micah Houston's cheerful laughs could be heard through the receiver.

Despite the serious nature of the topic at hand, Kristen could not help but chuckle along with her son's expressions of delight; the result of Micah's natural talent to inspire joy in others.

"He is a very happy child," Kristen said. "Everyone loves his smile. He smiles at everybody and people I don't even know will come up to us. He loves people and loves to watch other kids. During therapy, if he's in a room by himself, he doesn't want to do anything. But when he's around other kids in therapy, he lights up."
