HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Dia de los Muertos is a traditional holiday that honors and celebrates the lives of family members and friends who have died. There are several exhibits around the Houston area, including the one at the The Lawndale Art Center.
The program supports area artists and local students by offering them an opportunity to display their works to a broader audience in a museum quality setting.
There will be different events held beginning October 20 - November 8, 2014. Artist made retablos and there are student installations as well as workshops and programs at the center.
The programs will help educate audiences and encourage dialogue about the rich Mexican-American heritage, as well as promote cultural awareness of this celebration of family, life and community.
