YPSILANTI, Michigan (KTRK) -- In perhaps the sweetest kind of revenge, a college student's tweet about his stepdad who said he'd never graduate is going viral.

"My stepdad told me it was pointless to go to orientation, I wasn't going to graduate, 4-years later he's in jail and I'm well...," Daivon Reeder tweeted.

The tweet has been shared over 147,000 times.

"I was saying because of two situations we're two black statistics and he's on the bad statistic on the negative in jail and I'm on the good statistic on the black man who just graduated college," Reeder told WXYZ.

Although the journey wasn't easy, Reeder thanked his mother and mentor for being able to obtain his degree in criminal justice.
