HOUSTON -- In an effort to save space at local landfills, the City of Houston's Solid Waste Management Department encourages area residents to participate in its annual Christmas Tree recycling program, which runs until Jan 7.

This year, there are 18 drop-off locations throughout the Houston area, and one is in Kingwood near the Kingwood Branch Library located at 4400 Bens View Drive.

The trees will be repurposed and turned converted into Living Earth Mulch, which will be sold in local hardware stores like Lowe's. Ten cents from every bag sold goes to the City of Houston for the purpose of expanding recycling programs.
