Buffalo Bayou Park re-opening in Houston
Buffalo Bayou Park is set to reopen Saturday with fireworks and festivities in Houston.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Buffalo Bayou Park has been transformed in recent years by a $58 million renovation.

A new dog park opened earlier this year, but the park at the doorstep of downtown now boasts two visitor centers, bridges connecting both sides of the bayou, and new artwork to greet you along new trails for joggers and bikers.

Anne Olson is the president of the Buffalo Bayou Partnership and talked to Eyewitness News about how the organization is ready to officially greet the community with a huge event to celebrate the renovation.

"This is the really the culmination of five years of hard work," Olson said. "It's all day festivities ending in a huge fireworks display."

The event runs from 1:30pm to 9:30pm. It's free to the public and in addition to a day of activities, will end with a fireworks display.
