YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, CA (KTRK) -- A young boy is getting his final wish to become a park ranger.

Gabriel Lawan-Ying, 8, has a life-threatening illness. He told his family his one dream was to one day become a park ranger at Yosemite National Park.

His family contacted the Make-A-Wish foundation who helped make his dream come true. On Tuesday, young Gabriel put in a full day of work in the park. He learned how to put out a wild fire and even saved an injured hiker.

Gabriel left the park with an honorary park ranger badge along with a flag that was flown over Yosemite Valley.
