Students give unexpected surprise to 94-year-old crossing guard
Walker has been the crossing guard at Mitchell since 2006. He turns 94 this week.

PLANO, Texas (KTRK) -- A World War II veteran, who still works as a school crossing guard, is feeling the love today.

Students at a school in Plano, Texas surprised Luther Walker on his 94th birthday after he suffered a health scare. He was found passed out in his car recently, suffering from dehydration.

After he was released from the hospital, he went back to work as a school crossing guard but never expected what would soon cross his path.

Dozens of students greeted him with hugs, hand-made cards and gifts. They even collected enough money to pay the rent on his apartment.

Luther said that the overwhelming amount of love shown to him will only inspire him to keep working.

As for retirement, he'll cross that road when he comes to it.
