HOUSTON (KTRK) -- You can't have the Oscars without the glitz and glamour of the red carpet. In true Hollywood style, we asked ABC-13 Facebook fans to tell us why they needed a couple's makeover.

We picked newly engaged couple Monique Wilson and Morgan Word as our winners to undergo a total transformation!

Wilson said she knew Word was the one on their first date.

"He smiled at me, I smiled at him and I was like, you know what? This is it," Wilson said.

They fell in love, her children became their children, and then three years later the lucky in love couple was dealt a devastating setback.

"I woke up one morning and I couldn't breathe," Wilson said.

Doctors told Wilson that she had a dangerous blood clot in her lung.

"They told me I was very lucky I made it to the hospital because a lot of people don't make it," Wilson said.

She says she made it because Word never left her side.

"I knew then that he wasn't going anywhere," Wilson said.

Word knew it too, and just last weekend the couple got engaged.

"He asked me to be the jelly to his peanut butter," Wilson said with a laugh.

Because of their sweet story, some of Houston's beauty and fashion elite got them red carpet ready for their wedding.

Wilson's first stop was with fashion designer David Peck. Then she received shoes and accessories from designer Donald Pliner.

Meanwhile, Word went from camo-clad to sharp-dressed man with the experts at Norton Ditto.

At the Upper Hand Salon, hair stylist Wilson Lambeth gave Wilson's hair a new color, blowout, and extensions. Makeup artist Sarah Hebert put the finishing touches her makeup.

"I can't tell you the last time I had anybody completely redo me. I've never had that experience," Wilson said.

Across town at the gentleman's barbershop Shave, Word got brow help, a hot towel treatment, and a straight razor shave.

Once their looks were complete, they were red carpet ready and ready to see each other. After the reveal, both makeovers were a hit!

"Let's go get married now," they said.
