If you don't like the gift cards you got for the holidays, you can now exchange them for Wal-Mart store credit. Starting Christmas day, Wal-Mart says they will trade your gift cards from other stores for theirs.

The Associated Press reported that Wal-Mart will trade shoppers any gift card from over 200 eligible stores, restaurants and airlines, in exchange for Wal-Mart gift cards of the same value.

What's more is that you don't need to go anywhere to make the exchange, you can do it online at Walmart.CardCash.com. After inputting your information, eGift cards should be emailed to you within an hour, according to the AP article.

Consultants at CEB TowerGroup said up to about $1 billion worth of gift cards will go unused this year, either because shoppers lose them or can't figure out what to buy.

The gift card exchange program is a test done in partnership with CardCash, the country's largest gift card exchange platform. Wal-Mart hasn't confirmed that the program will continue after the holiday season, but are evaluating how shoppers react.
