HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Raising babies can be expensive, we all know that. The Bayou City Mamas group is hosting an expo this Sunday to checkout all the latest gear. Eyewitness News Consumer Reporter Patricia Lopez had a chance to get in early and preview some of the items.

Lane Goulotta is a mother of four with Bayou City Mamas. She said the baby market is flooded with a lot of gear, some of which is a waste of money. That's why all of her picks are multi-use items.

This nursing cover by Covered Goods is not just a cover but an infinity scarf. It also works as a stroller and grocery cart cover.

Next up is an item called The Pello. Many moms say this has taken them from newborn to toddler and the pellos stack. This helps replace the need for multiple baby chairs in your home. It is a standard play mat, positioning pillow, or baby gym.

A diaper pail is usually ditched after the diaper days, but the Ubbi steel can works beyond the baby years because you don't need specific bags to use it.

The Britax ClickTight car sear is not cheap. It starts selling for around $275.00 at Target, but it can carry babies from five pounds to kids up to 65 pounds. Plus, the Baby + Kid Show will be giving away one of these to a lucky winner, and offering product discounts since Britax is a presenting sponsor.

Petunia Pickle Bottom bags are diaper bags that come as backpacks. They are sold in bold, clean looks that set them apart from your typical diaper bag. They also have great styles for dads.

The Houston Baby + Kid Show is this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Bayou City Event Center. Tickets are $10 for general admission and seminar tickets are individually sold for $15 a session. Seminar tickets also include a gift bag of goodies and one giveaway ticket. All seminar tickets must be purchased in advance. Children under 16 are free with adult guardians.
