Across the country, the housing market is recovering quickly, and Houston is one of the hottest markets right now.
While million dollar listings are selling at an all-time pace, we checked out some of the biggest markets in the country to see how Houston stacks up.
In the Big Apple, it's a good thing the city never sleeps because you won't have a lot of bedrooms. Spending $1 million will get you two bedrooms, two baths and less than 1,000 square feet. Windows and sunshine come at a premium, and so does storage space! Seven figures will get you what New Yorkers consider perks.
"New bathrooms, huge closet space, and even a washer/dryer," New York real estate agent said.
In picturesque San Francisco, the median price for a home is $1 million! A home in Twin Peaks with four small bedrooms and two bathrooms sold in seven days with three offers, pushing the price up an additional $100,000.
If you drop a million in the Windy City, you'll get a million dollar view.
"What's really nice about the unit is that it has these unobstructed views of Millennium Park and the lake front," said Chicago Association of Realtors Matt Farrell.
The three bedroom, two and a half bath condo in downtown Chicago offers plenty of luxury, but there's no place like home.
With an average home price of $270,000, $1 million goes a whole lot further in the Bayou City. Of course, it's all about location. Just inside the loop, $1 million buys a stylish 3,900 square foot rebuild in The Heights.
If you can handle a commute, you can live in a mansion in Katy!
"If you go into new construction in the master planned communities, away from Houston, into the suburbs, you get more bang for your buck," Houston realtor Jennifer Hamp said.
With 5,500 square feet, five bedrooms and five baths, the home has all the bells and whistles. This home really proves that everything is bigger in Texas.
"We have a very robust market here, and yes you would absolutely pay more for a home in other cities than you would in Texas," said Hamp.
