IOWA (KTRK) -- In the final, critical weekend before Monday's Iowa caucus, Texas Senator Ted Cruz is hoping his message delivers to voters.
ABC13's Tom Abrahams traveled with Senator Cruz between a pair of his events to get an inside look at key issues on the campaign trail.
"From the beginning this has been a grass roots campaign, a campaign based on the ground here in Iowa," Cruz said.
Cruz is in a fight at the top of polls in Iowa with front-runner Donald Trump. The two, once friendly, have been much less so in recent weeks.
"You can understand why Donald resorts to insults. He doesn't want to debate the issues. His record on the issues is not good," Cruz added.
The Cruz campaign will have traveled to all 99 Iowa counties before voters have their say on Monday night. He'll have attended countless rallies like these. But will it be enough to win and move onto to New Hampshire with incredible momentum?
