Bank robbery suspect accused of using stolen ambulance to get away, lead police on chase

LA PORTE, Texas (KTRK) -- A bank robbery suspect is accused of using a stolen ambulance to get away from the scene Thursday morning in La Porte.

Kristopher Montalvo, 29, is accused of robbing Amegy Bank in the 1400 block of West Fairmont. Police said Montalvo fled the scene in the stolen ambulance and was spotted by officers minutes later.

After a chase, officers were able to capture him in Pasadena.

Montalvo has been charged with robbery and additional charges are expected, police said. He is also being investigated by other local departments for his suspected involvement in other crimes throughout the area.
