Search for stolen dog
A woman says her purebred Yorkie was stolen from her car when she ran inside a Washateria for a minute

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Houston woman says her stolen dog is being sold on Craigslist.

Clara Sosa says her purebred Yorkshire Terrier named Bruno was taken out of her car on June 8th as she briefly went inside a washateria in northwest Houston. Sosa says she left the windows cracked when she went inside to ask if she could bring the dog in with her while she washed clothes.

Sosa has filed a police report and is waiting for the Houston Police Department to investigate. Sosa says she found surveillance video of the theft on her own. She says it shows the suspect leave with her dog in a Maroon colored SUV.

Sosa says purebred Yorkshire terriers are in high demand and worth market value of about $5000 each. She bought Bruno three weeks ago for $1800. Sosa believes she was either followed or targeted here because of the dog.

Sosa says the theft happened five days ago, but she's being told Houston police still haven't assigned the case an investigator. Sosa now fears the dog will be sold before police have a chance to locate it.

"Maybe they feel like its not that important because its just an animal," said Sosa. "But you know, its a family member to me so. It's important to me."

Police admit it can take several days for cases like this to be assigned. A spokesperson says they were supposed to contact Sosa today. Sosa tells Eyewitness News she never got a call.
