Spring woman takes legal action to get dog back
Lisa Landes has hired an attorney to try to get Koda back

SPRING, TX (KTRK) -- Lisa Landes has hired an attorney to help get her Siberian Husky back.

The dog escaped from Landes' backyard December 17 and was turned in to the Houston SPCA. The agency put Koda up for adoption, and another family adopted the dog.

According to the HSPCA, the new family has not decided whether or not they are giving Koda back to Landes.

Now, Landes is contemplating legal action against the HSPCA.

"We are going to keep this as civil as possible until we really need to move forward with stronger action," Landes said, "We're basically just waiting for a response from the SPCA at this point."

In the meantime, another family wants to help. Shalane Garcia and her husband have a red-haired husky, and they feel they cannot give her the attention she deserves anymore.

Garcia is offering to give her husky, 5-year-old Tiley, to the family that has Koda if that family will return Koda to Landes.

"For the past 2 or 3 weeks, we had been looking to find a home for Tiley because our time with her has been limited," Garcia said, "We have a daughter now, so it's just a lot to give her that attention that she needs."

Landes is touched by Garcia's kindness.

"I think it's fabulous that they have stepped up," Landes said, "And hopefully that might be an answer."

According to a spokeswoman for the Houston SPCA, the family that has Koda now has still not decided if they are giving Koda back or not.
