SACRAMENTO, CA (KTRK) -- A video posted to Facebook shows firefighters cutting through the bars of a metal fence to rescue a German shepherd. The dog's head had become stuck beneath the fence.

Engine 44 of the West Sacramento Fire Department responded to a report of a dog trapped in a fence last Thursday morning and found the German shepherd "in a tight spot," a Facebook post from the department stated.

The dog whimpered and struggled in the video, but he was uninjured in the incident and said to be "happy and healthy," according to the post.

It was still not clear how the German shepherd became stuck in the first place.

The Fire Department's video has been viewed more than 1.7 million times since it was posted to Facebook.
