Sugar Land shelter slashes adoption rates to combat overcrowding
A Sugar Land pet shelter is slashing adoption rates to fight overcrowding.

SUGAR LAND, Texas (KTRK) -- The Sugar Land Animal Shelter is slashing adoption rates in order to combat overcrowding.

Through April 30, the shelter is offering a special adoption rate of $55, down from $105. The adoption fee covers vaccinations, spaying and neutering and microchipping.

The shelter, which is built to accommodate 24 dogs, is currently housing 40.

Before adopting, interested puppy parents can take advantage of the sleepover program, which allows dogs to spend the night at home before an adoption commitment is made.
