PASADENA, TX -- A pit bull was rescued from a hot car by police in a Walmart parking lot.

On July 22 just before 1p.m. Pasadena police responded to a concern for welfare call at the 5200 block of Fairmont.

The call had been made by passersby in the Walmart parking lot where they had seen a tan pit bull in a parked truck.

According to police, the female pit bull was panting, salivating and trying to stick her nose through a three-inch crack in the window for air.

Officers pried the vehicle door open at approximately 1:07 p.m. and placed the dog into the police unit vehicle.

Police say that the outside temperature was 91 degrees, the inside dash of the vehicle was recorded at 125 degrees and the vehicle floor board 103 degrees.

The indoor temperatures were taken several minutes after the dog had been removed and door left open, said Vance Mitchell, Pasadena police spokesman.
