As you know, the number of homeless cats and dogs in our area is staggering. Local shelters BARC and area animal advocate groups are teaming up to bring spay and neuter services directly to the residents in some Houston neighborhoods...for FREE! The goal of the Healthy Pets Healthy Streets Program is to cut down on the births of unwanted animals and in turn help reduce the number of animals euthanized in our area.

The next round of free spay/neuter services being offered to Houston residents is coming up later this month. You do not have to be a resident of the neighborhoods where the clinics are setting up-just have to be a Houston resident. Bring a current ID and a bill showing your Houston address. Double check your address ahead of time to make sure you qualify by going here.

If you live in any of the areas shaded in green, you qualify for the free services.

These events are on a first-come, first-served basis. But, organizers say if they cannot get to your pet on these dates, they will schedule another time to get your pet spayed or neutered for FREE the following week.

Check-in begins at 6:30am.
