TEXAS STRONG: Texans save armadillos from flood

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Flood waters can turn up lots of things -- garbage, sewage, debris and even a variety of animals you might not usually see.

Even though they are fair swimmers, the official state small mammal of Texas was in need of rescue from the flood waters.

Jaslyn Antonini says she was kayaking down her street in the Bear Creek neighborhood in chest-high waters, when she spotted an armadillo sitting on a floating dresser.

She picked the little guy up and brought him to higher ground.

Another good Samaritan rescued an armadillo live on ABC13.

The Woodlands firefighters also posted a photo of this cute little rescue from Lake Woodlands.
