HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Hide your dogs, hide your cats, Kenny Thompson is warning all of his neighbors.

"Keep them on a leash in your backyard close right beside you don't let them run around," said Thompson.

Thompson says pets in his west Houston neighborhood are coming up missing every week due to coyotes.

"There's upwards of 12 dogs missing right now, cats (too)" said Thompson.

Thompson and his family became the latest victim last Friday afternoon when they say the family's Chihuahua, Rico Suave, was attacked.

"The coyote ran up and Rico came across the yard here and I don't know where, it came out of nowhere. Coyote was on it before he could know it and took him off under that fence over there," said Thompson.

Thompson believes the coyotes are coming from this wooded area behind his house, close to the Addicks Reservoir.

Neighbors have been working with police and animal control to stop the coyotes, but Thompson is now ready to take matters into his own hands before all the pets in his neighborhood are gone.

"If I see him in the yard again, yes. I'm going to shoot something's got to be done," said Thompson.
