MISSOURI CITY, Texas (KTRK) -- As Missouri City dries out from Hurricane Harvey's catastrophic flooding, city officials are adding extra mosquito spraying days.

Spraying will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 12, and last for six weeks. All streets and neighborhoods within city limits will be sprayed, while parks and the Quail Valley Golf Course will be treated on an as-needed basis.

Special attention will be given to public drainage areas and other places where mosquitos are known to swarm.

City officials say they will use Kontrol 30-30, an "environmentally friendly" pesticide.

Residents are urged to continue using common-sense approaches to mosquito bite prevention in the meantime.
