Pearland cashier allegedly exposed himself around kids
PEARLAND, Texas (KTRK) -- A former cashier with Dollar General is accused of flashing customers as he scanned their purchases at the checkout line.
Noah Washington, 18, is charged with two counts of indecent exposure and one count of indecent exposure with a child. He was arrested on Oct. 12 and is out on bond.
"You got to be to be kidding me," said shopper Karen Gautney, who says she's never seen Washington while she shopped at the Main Street location in Pearland.
Pearland police began investigating after a shopper complained on Oct. 6. Officers say surveillance video captured Washington exposing himself multiple times on different days to different customers while working at the cash register.
"He was just not interested in covering his body and with intent exposing himself," said Pearland Police Department spokesperson Officer Jason Wells. "This is a high-priority case for us."
Washington wasn't at his Pearland apartment Monday afternoon, but a neighbor did chat with him this weekend.
"I'm so shocked. I really am shocked," said neighbor Linda Menchaca. "Just knowing him coming and going, I wouldn't have thought."
"He's been a quiet neighbor. All I know is he's a college student and he has a roommate. He comes and goes and has friends," she continued.
In a statement, Dollar General said in part: "Dollar General is shocked by the alleged acts of a former employee in Pearland, Texas. The company certainly does not accept this type of behavior and it is not reflective of our mission and values."
Sources say Washington was hired shortly after Hurricane Harvey. He was fired after his arrest.
Pearland police are asking for any additional victims to come forward. They believe there were additional shoppers who saw Washington expose himself.
