HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Discussions are ongoing about what will happen next here at the Harris County Courts downtown.

The jury assembly room is a building which was re-done recently in 2011. It was designed to create an easy flow of jurors to the necessary courtrooms.

The room is just part of a much bigger problem with the Criminal Justice Center.

The County Engineer told Eyewitness News that Harris County will hire a remediation consultant to show the county how to make the building waterproof two feet higher than Harvey water levels.

The buildings are still in the cleanup phase, with ongoing discussions of what will happen in the months to come.

"We were told nine months for the Criminal Justice Center," Harris Co. Judge Ed Emmett said, "and I think we're now looking at a complete replacement of the jury assembly room."

After a long day of cleanup, the courthouse is still nowhere near ready for reopening.
