Humble welcomes home wounded Marine
Marine Sgt. Robert Lavachery received a big welcome home from family and friends

HUMBLE, TX (KTRK) -- The rain came down and the umbrellas were up but nothing was going to stop friends, relatives and the Patriot Guard from honoring a wounded warrior from Humble.

Tonight Marine Sgt. Robert Lavachery made his final trip home from service. After eight years as a Marine and a combat deployment that left him with a head wound and PTSD he is at last home.

The homecoming was a surprise organized by his mother Melanie. She drove the family SUV into a parking lot full of flags waving and a welcome home banner held by his two sisters.

Atascocita first responders ushered him home along with the guard where neighbors placed balloons on their mailboxes, waved flags and held signs to honor him.

The celebration ended with a presentation by the Patriot Guard and lots of handshakes and hugs.
