Woman who killed Harris Co. deputy in wreck found guilty of intoxication manslaughter

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A woman who killed a Harris County deputy in a crash has been found guilty of intoxication manslaughter.

Kelly Jo Ivey struck and killed Deputy Jesse Valdez III, 32, back on Wallisville Road back on October 28.

The jury deliberated most of the day before reaching the guilty verdict.

Prosecutors say Ivey was under the influence of meth and had meth on her. She was on parole related to former drug charges.

The jury went straight into the sentencing phase.
