HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A burglar, responsible for an early morning home invasion, remained on the run Wednesday afternoon.
Houston police officers told Eyewitness News there is no good description of the crook. According to investigators, a woman was fast asleep inside her townhome on Gardner Street around 4am. They said she woke up to find a man trying to make off with her flat screen television. He entered through an unlocked back door.
Detectives said she actually chased him off, leaving him with scratches to the face. Neighbors said they are on edge after the break-in. Hana Shoup knew the woman victimized. She couldn't believe the crime, saying it's typically a quiet area.
"I've never heard of anything freaky happen to anyone I knew," said Shoup. "I hope she's okay. I'm sure psychologically ... it's very disturbing."
Others said it is a reminder you can never be too safe.
"You've got to, in any neighborhood, you've got to have your windows locked completely," said Rebecca Ramos. "You never know. They can hit anyone from the richest to the poorest."
