FORT BEND CO., TX (KTRK) -- A woman was killed when police say she stepped out onto a busy highway in Fort Bend County.

It happened around 8:30pm last night along State Highway 6 near S. Post Oak. Police say the woman had left a restaurant in the area with her friends and were traveling southbound on Highway 6.

For an unknown reason, the woman then pulled to the side of the road, got out of the vehicle and stepped out into a moving lane of traffic. That's when another vehicle struck and killed her.

The driver of the second vehicle did stop and is not expected to face any charges.
