Woman impaled by gate after wind gust in North Carolina

CHARLOTTE, NC (KTRK) -- Officials in Huntersville, North Carolina say a woman was seriously injured in a freak accident Friday night.

Firefighters say she was impaled by a pole from a gate at a local high school after a gust of wind blew it open. The pole hit her car, penetrated the passenger headlight and firewall into the engine and then ripped through the driver's seat before hitting the driver.
