Woman claims she was groped inside Rosenberg police jail

ROSENBERG, TX (KTRK) -- "He whispered in my ear and covered my mouth."

Jessica Reyes says she was sexually assaulted by a Rosenberg Police officer following her arrest on Sunday. She claims the officer asked her to accompany her to take out the trash and that the incident occurred after that in the police department's break room.

She says the officer told her he took her there because he knew it would be beyond the view of surveillance cameras.

"He said because he was gonna pat me down the way he wanted to because he couldn't do it when the other officers were there," said Reyes.

Reyes, who was in custody for resisting arrest, says the officer ordered her against the wall and touched her inappropriately. "I was trying to scream for help but he was covering my mouth, so I couldn't. No one could hear me in the jail," she said.

Reyes claims the officer told her when he was done that he was going to return on his next shift with a condom.

She tells Eyewitness News she reported the incident on Sunday and that police didn't follow up to ask her about it until Tuesday. Only then, she laments, was she taken to a medical facility for a sex assault kit to be performed.

Rosenberg Police Chief Dallis Warren says the Texas Rangers are conducting an investigation. The accused of officer has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of that investigation.

Reyes says she plans to sue.

"He's a coward," she said.
