San Antonio woman charged after kids found restrained in backyard
SAN ANTONIO, TX (KTRK) -- A San Antonio woman is facing charges after eight children were found last week unsupervised in a San Antonio home. Two of the children were restrained in the back yard, say police.
Porucha Phillips, 34, was charged with two counts of injury to a child by omission. Her bond was set at $75,000 on each charge, according to the website of the Bexar County Magistrate.
Police say Phillips is mother to the six children found inside and was supposed to be watching the children who were found restrained.
Police were tipped off to the home by a phone call Thursday about a crying child. When officers arrived, they found the 2-year-old boy chained in the back yard and a 3-year-old girl tied with a dog leash.
Six children were found inside the home.
Two of the children, including one with a broken arm, remained hospitalized more than 12 hours after deputies first arrived to the house last week. The other six were placed in foster care.
Officials were concerned that all the children may be malnourished, said Patrick Crimmins, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
