Woman accused of shooting her son-in-law in family dispute in west Houston.

HOUSTON -- A family dispute lands a man in the hospital, and his mother-in-law in police custody, accused of shooting him.

Police say at about 8am Friday a woman showed up at her son-in-law's home on Overbrook Drive. Investigators tell Eyewitness News the woman was angry at her son-in-law for some reason. Detectives say the woman shot her son-in-law in the stomach and then fled the scene.

Minutes after that, a call went out detailing a shooting and a description of the suspect's car. While on the way to the scene, police spotted the mother-in-law's car, a silver Dodge Caliber.

Officers got behind the woman as she continued to drive, going about 50 mph. Police say the woman drove to her home on Tetela Lane where she was arrested. Police say the woman's 17-year-old son was with her. Officer say they also found a pistol inside the car.

The man who was shot in the stomach was rushed to Ben Taub Hospital, but he is expected to survive. His mother-in-law is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon involving a family member.
