A suspect led police on a wild chase in S. Florida Wednesday, but it didn't stop when his car did

MIAMI, FL (KTRK) -- One person is in custody after a wild, high-speed chase across three counties in south Florida Wednesday.

A news helicopter flew over the scene as police chased a red car down freeways. The driver swerved around cars and slammed into the back of another car in Palm Beach County.

That crash eventually forced the driver to stop the car, where he jumped off a freeway ramp and took off on foot. He ran through backyards, even being chased by a dog before hiding out in a house.

Once police arrived on scene, they sent a K-9 officer to get him. He was then arrested.

Investigators say he was wanted for a bank robbery near Miami.
