Water main break causes wet mess in NW Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- There's a wet mess left behind in northwest Houston after a water main broke this afternoon.

It happened near the intersection of Tidwell and TC Jester. A contractor reported that he broke the water main.

Public Works crews stopped the water flowing at around 5:45pm, and the water level almost immediately started going down.

Earlier water that was more than ankle deep flooded the area.

Crews are asking people to avoid the high water area, and are telling homes and businesses in the area that the water will be shut off for several hours.
