HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The family that owns a Moneygram business in southwest Houston is begging for the public's help and hoping by some holiday miracle, the man who violently robbed them will be caught.
It was supposed to be a routine run to the bank, but someone was watching.
While the owner, who we're keeping anonymous for protection was carrying his cash withdrawal back to his Moneygram store on Bissonnet near Hillcroft this past Saturday, he was attacked.
The owner said, "In my mind, I'm just thinking, he's just another customer. And then all of a sudden, he just snatched my jacket and I ran after him across the street."
The suspect snatches his jacket, wrapped around what the owner says is more than $100,000.
The owner said, "At the time your mind just goes blank. So I did I could do and just ran after him. But he was too big."
Houston police said the owner chased the suspect, got into a scuffle with him across the street and was run over by the suspect's getaway car.
The suspect got away.
The owner said, "You work so hard for all that money, and all of a sudden somebody takes it away from you. You've got to give it all you've got."
The owner says he is willing to pay a reward of $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
The family that owns the Moneygram store has two other check cashing convenience stores and they say crime has been getting worse in those locations as well.
