Police say the man they killed was known to have a violent past

WEBSTER, TX (KTRK) -- We are working to learn more about the wanted suspect who was gunned down by police overnight.

It happened outside a motel in Webster. We can tell you the suspect is 38 years old and police say he was a known violent offender.

Suspect shot and killed by police officers in Webster.

Police say he pointed a gun at officers, and that's when officers opened fire.

It all happened around 7pm.

There were police officers from several agencies out here specifically looking to arrest the suspect.

Webster police tell us the man had open arrest warrants and a history of violent crimes.

Police say when they approached the suspect, he was sitting in a vehicle in the motel parking lot.

Investigators say officers told the suspect several times to show his hands. Instead, police say he pointed a gun at officers and they opened fire, killing the suspect.

There were officers here from Alvin, Friendswood, and League City.

The case remains under investigation by Webster PD and the Harris County DA's office.
