HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Some club-goers in Midtown are angry after what they saw outside a local bar Saturday night.

Two security guards appear to be beating a customer who may have been drunk outside the Elysium Midtown on Brazos Street. The Elysium is owned by the GasLamp.

Viewer Mariah Martinez sent cell phone video to abc13.

The video appears to show a person on the ground being punched by security.

According to eyewitnesses, the man tried to go back in the bar and one security guard held him down while another hit him.

"He was pretty defenseless. He already had a cut on his head. He was already bleeding. I don't know if he'd gotten into a fight before," eyewitness Juan Osornio said. "But dude just came out of nowhere and started wailing on his head."

An attorney for GasLamp released this statement:

"GAS LAMP SECURITY WAS ACTING IN SELF DEFENSE AFTER MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH THE MAN INVOLVED...THE VIDEO IS NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF WHAT HAPPENED PRIOR TO OR AFTERWARDS AS THIS MAN INITIATED CONTACT MULTIPLE TIMES AND MADE STAFF FEEL UNSAFE AND THREATENED UP TO THE POINT OF POLICE ARRIVING."

According to the attorney, the man in the video was later arrested. There is no word on any charges filed.
