Undocumented immigrants found between pallets of onions in big rig in Rio Grande Valley

FALFURRIAS, TX (KTRK) -- Border patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley discovered 11 undocumented immigrants in a tractor trailer during a checkpoint inspection early Thursday morning.

The discovery was made at the Falfurrias checkpoint. A K-9 made a hit on the trailer. Upon further inspection, agents say they found the undocumented immigrants concealed between pallets of onions with no way to escape if they needed to.

Those rescued were offered medical attention, but declined.

The driver, a U.S. citizen, was arrested and the big rig seized.
