HOUSTON (KTRK) -- One person is dead and a 13-year-old is in the hospital after a shooting on the northeast side early this morning.

The family have identified the victims as 18-year-old Darian Dixon and 13-year-old Devaunte Richardson.

Witnesses say they were walking down North Wayside Drive at 2am when they were shot.

The 18-year-old died at the scene. His 13-year-old brother-in-law was shot 3 times and is in surgery at Memorial Southwest Hospital.

Unfortunately, there are no witnesses to the shooting but we're told by the man who tried to help the victims that he heard them screaming on the sidewalk as he made he was biking down Wayside Drive.

That witness says he tried to give CPR to the 18-year-old but the victim died at the scene.

HPD homicide detectives are still gathering evidence and trying to figure out exactly what took place. At this point, they do not have much to go on.

HPD updates the shooting on N. Wayside.

"We need information from the community to help solve this case we have very little to work on." said Sgt. Arnauld Semmelrock with the Houston Police Department.

As for suspects, at this point there is no word on who did this or why.

Wayside drive was shut down in both directions just south of Tidwell during the investigation.
