HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The suspect in last week's deadly shooting on the campus of TSU is in custody after a SWAT standoff overnight in north Houston.

According to police, the suspect, Jartis Leon LeBlanc, Jr., got into an argument with his girlfriend shortly after midnight Saturday in a home in the 6300 block of Knox. Someone called 911 and police arrived.

They quickly determined that the person inside was the suspect in the last Friday's shooting that left 18-year-old freshman Brent Randall dead and another person wounded.

LeBlanc reportedly hid from police in the attic of the home.

A SWAT team arrived and surrounded the home. LeBlanc eventually surrendered peacefully. He is charged with murder.

HPD's Jodi Silva said, "SWAT arrived, they began to speak with the suspect on loudspeakers at which time the suspect came out, peacefully, without further incident and suspect LeBlanc has been taken into custody at this time."

LeBlanc is expected to make a court appearance Saturday night.
