HOUSTON (KTRK) -- When a trail rider was thrown from her horse, police rushed to the scene and now the 911 calls show that quick police response.

The woman, Kathy Pusser, was taken to the hospital where she is still recovering.

Pusser was injured badly in that unfortunate accident. She was riding with an organization called Horseshoes from the Heart.

Pusser has been in the Intensive Care Unit for nearly two weeks. A fund is now set up to help her with medical expenses.

Just yesterday, she had jaw surgery. Her mouth is now wired shut.

The head of the organization said changes to the trail ride are already underway.

Horseshoes from the Heart's Kent Crawford said, "This kind of gives a wake-up call. I think everybody is kind of complacent when they everything is going good. And then when it goes bad, we say, 'Why did we not look at this?' Now we are doing a detailed evaluation everything of everything. We are looking at it from every angle that we can."

Crawford added that Pusser had several teeth knocked out and a cosmetic dentist has offered to help.

If you want to help with her expenses, contact the Horseshoes from the Heart organization.
