Texas teen found in RI, man charged with sex trafficking

PROVIDENCE, RI -- A Providence man has been charged with sex trafficking after police found a missing Texas teen in a city rooming house.

Police say 34-year-old Dujuan Harris met the girl on the Internet and she was working for him as a prostitute when she was found on Tuesday.

The 17-year-old, who police say is from a small town in Texas, had been missing for more than a week. Authorities say she has been reunited with her family.

Harris has been charged under a new state sex trafficking law that carries a possible 50-year prison term.

He was ordered held without bail Wednesday on a probation violation and is due back in court on Sept. 11.
