HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police say three joyriding teenagers crashed their SUV during a chase in west Houston.

Officers tried to stop the driver of the Escalade because their headlights were off, but he took off.

The chase ended on Westheimer and Crossview when the driver lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a utility pole.

There were three teens inside the vehicle, but two of them suffered minor injuries.

The 15-year-old driver was trapped inside the Escalade, and had to be cut out of the vehicle. Meanwhile, the 16-year-old front passenger was not wearing their seatbelt and hit the windshield, suffering facial injuries.

The third teen was released by police to his mother. Officers say his mother showed scars on her son's body from the last time he ran from police.

The SUV belonged to the driver's father.
