PEARLAND, TX (KTRK) -- A frightening moment was caught on camera when a man tried to break into a Pearland home with a 14-year-old inside.

The entire incident was recorded on surveillance video.

Wendy Trevino says her stepson, Omar Trevino, was standing at the top of the stairs when he made eye contact with the suspect. Omar then went to hide inside a nearby closet and called 911.

"I started running and I dialed 911 right here and I went into the closet right here. I sat here and I closed it," explained Omar.

In the video, the suspect appears to be holding a weed eater, peeping in the front door of the home on Hickory Creek and Glastonbury for several minutes. From another angle, the man is seen going to a backdoor and breaking the window.

According to Wendy, the same suspect appeared at their home around 7am Thursday -- when both her daughter and stepson were home. Around 10am, the daughter left and that's when the suspect made his move.

Pearland Police Department is investigating the burglary. Anyone with information is asked to call authorities.
